Obtain two images of both hips in 90° flexion and neutral position (lateral decubitus) and make following measurements on your PACS workstation:


Congenital Hip Dysplasie
Radiographic Findings
Infant or child ( Ultrasound should preferentially be used in infant to avoid radiation )

Femoral epiphysis not located within lower inner quadrant formed by Hilgenreiner and Perkins lines
Hilgenreiner line: Horizontal through triradiate cartilage
Perkins line: Perpendicular to Hilgenreiner, at lateral edge acetabulum

Disruption of Shenton line (continuous curve around obturator foramen to medial femoral metaphysis)
-
Acetabular roof angle > 30° indicates DDH
-
Delayed ossification of femoral head
-
May develop osteonecrosis in childhood
